The Story Behind This Art
There’s a moment in life where you realise you’ve been present… but not fully seen.
Not by others - and sometimes, not even by yourself.
This piece, "Unapologetically Her", is part of a wider body of work I’ve developed around 'Becoming Visible'.
It explores what it means to reconstruct identity from who we choose to become, rather than who we were expected to be.
The fragmented textures represent experience, pressure, and adaptation. The more defined elements reflect clarity, self-possession, and decision. Together, they tell a story that visibility isn’t something we’re given. It’s something we claim.
In leadership, in life, and in creativity, there’s often an unspoken expectation to soften edges, to fit frameworks, to remain palatable. This work is a reminder that sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is allow ourselves to be fully seen, without apology.
